Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage resumes as weather clears up in Uttarakhand

Uttarkashi/ Govindghat/ Sonprayag/ Joshimath, June 28 (ANI): The annual Hindu pilgrimage, suspended following heavy rains in Uttarakhand, resumed as weather cleared up in many areas. Incessant rains resulted in suspension of the Hindu Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage to Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines in Uttarakhand, leaving thousands of pilgrims stranded. A meeting of the district authorities and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was held to chalk out strategies to help the pilgrims. Four bridges had collapsed in Sonprayag town in the state due to heavy rains. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police officials led the rescue operations in various parts of Uttarakhand and evacuated around 3,000 pilgrims.
