Exiled Tibetan govt in India announces relief fund for its people in quake-hit Nepal

Dharamsala, June 05 (ANI): Prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, Lobsang Sangay announced an additional 30 million Nepalese rupees for relief and reconstruction work for Tibetans in quake-hit Nepal. A team of Tibetan officers had visited Nepal for assessing the damage in quake-affected areas, following which this additional help has been announced. The funds were raised through emergency and rehabilitation fundraising campaign by the Central Tibetan Administration. Most of the funds were raised within the Tibetan community in India and also through people settled abroad. Thirteen Tibetans died in the earthquake, according to Sangay. He also told that compensation will be given to their families. Sangay also informed that the third and final phase would be reconstruction of the buildings, houses and other social and economic facilities damaged by the earthquake. The reconstruction is expected to begin between the next 3 and 6 months, depending on the availability of funds.
