Japan develops unmanned helicopter for use in agricultural industry

Shizuoka/ Ho Chi Minh City, June 18 (ANI): The Miho-no-Matsubara is a seven-kilometer seashore area lined with pine trees along the coast of Miho Peninsula in Japan. In 2013, the pine groves were added to the UNESCO’s World Heritage List as part of the Fujisan Cultural Site. However, the pine trees in the area start dying because of pine wilt disease, spread from the import lumber trees. To prevent pine trees from the disease, Shizuoka city decided to utilize an unmanned helicopter at first time to spray pesticides in the Miho-no-Matsubara. An unmanned helicopter “FAZER” is designed and manufactured by Yamaha Motor mainly for use in the agricultural industry. The test for pesticide spraying conducted last year proved that it has succeeded to reduce to a quarter of pine trees needed to be cut down compared to the previous year. When these cases attract people’s attention, the new field of unmanned helicopter will establish an active market in the near future. Japan is also expanding its global reach by constructing infrastructure for retail industry.
