Nearly 80 children fall ill after eating midday meal in Bihar Govt School

Madhubani, June 30 (ANI): Nearly 80 children fell ill after eating midday meal at a government school in Bihar. Soon after consuming the meal at the Bhavnathpur School in Madhubani district, the students complained of headache, uneasiness followed by burning sensation in their mouth and throat. They were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment. A district official, Jagdish Kumar said all of them are out of danger. Some students told officials that a dead lizard was found in the meal served to them. Police collected the samples for forensic test. Senior doctor, Om Prakash suspected that children fell ill due to food poisoning. The midday meal scheme, which gives more than 100 million school pupils a free lunch, is the largest such programme in the world. It has been widely lauded as one of the most successful welfare measures in India.
