Nestle India takes Maggi off the shelves, promises to be back soon

Srinagar/ Coimbatore/ New Delhi, June 05 (ANI): Nestle India decided to take Maggi off the shelves as more and more states are banning the 2-minute noodles over its contents. Asserting that the product was “completely safe”, the company in a statement late Thursday night said, “Unfortunately, recent developments and unfounded concerns about the product have led to an environment of confusion for the consumer, to such an extent that we have decided to withdraw the product off the shelves…” “We promise that the trusted Maggi Noodles will be back in the market as soon as the current situation is clarified,” it added. After Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir joined the list of states to ban the instant noodles as the product continues to be under scrutiny in several other states. The development came after samples showed excessive levels of lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG), a flavour enhancer. Several other states such as Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal and Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh have said they are testing the noodles.
