Police recover huge explosives from CPI-Maoist hideout in Jharkhand

Gumla, June 14 (ANI): Police recovered a quintal of powder explosive in Maoist rebel-hit Jharkhand. The powder explosive was recovered from Gumla district on the information provided by recently arrested Communist Party of India (Maoists) leader Prasad Lakra.

Superintendent of Police, Bheemsen Tuti, said the explosive material was found some distance away from the house of Lakra at Hesag village under Raidih police station. The explosive was concealed in a container.

The explosive was sent for testing to ascertain its composition, which will help police to understand what chemicals were being used to prepare explosives.

The Maoists, also known as ‘Naxals’, seek the violent overthrow of the Indian state and have fought authorities for decades, particularly in rural areas of central and eastern India where they enjoy some support.
