Smriti Irani unveils syllabus for yoga in CBSE schools: 80 per cent practical, 20 per cent theory

New Delhi, June 22 (ANI): A day after the world celebrated the inaugural International Day of Yoga (IDY), Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Monday announced that yoga would now be taught as a compulsory subject not only from class VI to X in central government run schools but also as a training module in teacher education programmes. A day after the world celebrated the inaugural International Day of Yoga (IDY), Human Resource Development Minister Irani on Monday unveiled the Narendra Modi government’s ambitious programme to teach the ancient practice to millions of school students across India as part of their curriculum. She also announced that 80 per cent of marks would be given for practical and 20 per cent for theory.
