South West Monsoon to hit Bihar on June 17 or 18

Patna: The South West Monsoon is likely to hit the region of Bihar by June 17 or June 18, 2015 delayed by at least a week, according to the regional Weather Science Center. The state has been witnessing pre-monsoon rains for the past 2 days. Rohtas district has witnessed largest rainfall of 35.6mm while Purnea has witnesses 22.4 mm. Other districts have also been witnessing drizzling rainfall, which is likely to continue for another 24-48 hours.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into south Gujarat Region, most parts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, some parts of Vidarbha, south Chhattisgarh, south Odisha, Rayalaseema, Telangana and most parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

It would further advance into remaining parts of Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar during next 3­ to 4 days. The weatherman has predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over Sub­ Himalayan West Bengal and all the northeastern states today.

It said, coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Konkan, Goa and many parts of Maharashtra will also witness heavy rainfall. The forecast added that thunderstorm accompanied with squall would occur at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
