Students of FTII protest appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as new chairman

Pune/ Mumbai, June 15 (ANI): Students of premiere Film and Television Institute of India in Pune protested the appointment of new chairman Gajendra Chauhan, because he is a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The protesters alleged that Chauhan lacked experience and stature and he was chosen for the key post due to his affiliation with the BJP. A billboard at the entrance asked Chauhan to resign and leave. The students wrote to the central government asserting that they would continue their protest till the appointment of Chauhan was revoked. The students have been boycotting classes and shut down administrative offices on the campus to vent out their anger. Chauhan said that he was wiling to speak to the students and tell them about his background and capabilities. Chauhan has been a member of the BJP for over two decades.
