Twenty Maoists surrender in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam, June 20 (ANI): Twenty Maoists surrendered before police in Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Superintendent of Police (SP), Visakhapatnam, Koya Praveen said among the surrendered Maoists were seven commanders and 13 militants. All were wanted in many cases. The rebels were also involved in pasting Maoists pamphlets, providing food and medical facilities to other Maoists and working as informers for their clan members. Meanwhile, a Maoist was killed in exchange of fire with the police in the Andhra-Odisha border, Praveen added. Police had got the information that Maoists were trying to occupy lands and distribute them among the tribals. Thereafter, the district police sent 10 police parties in combing operations. Police also recovered four hand grenades, two .303 rifles and 10 kit bags from the killed Maoist.
