AAP govt seeking referendum on Delhi full statehood draws flak from Congress

New Delhi, July 07 (ANI): The Aam Aadmi Party government is seeking a referendum over Delhi’s full statehood issue. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government wants a referendum on the issue of statehood for Delhi and Arvind Kejriwal has sent a note to various departments, asking them to ‘draft a law and create machinery for’ such a practice. Delhi’s Home Minister Satyendra Jain said that full statehood had been the poll agenda on all parties’ list and if the people are willing to give it consent it will be given a nod. Meanwhile, Congress leader Manish Tewari compared it to the Hurriyat Conference saying that if referendum can be given for Delhi, Hurriyat’s similar demands for J-K will also be justified.
