Annoyed over frequent power cuts, locals keep MLA, Councillor hostage in Chandauli

Chandauli, July 19 (ANI): Agitated over non-availability of power supply, people of Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh held hostage BSP MLA Babban Singh Chauhan and a local Councillor for two hours. The incident happened in Alinagar on Sunday when the MLA, Councillor came to wish Eid to the people of the area. The police reached the spot as soon as they got the information. Interestingly, they were held hostage in the presence of police. After getting assurance of proper electricity supply from the MLA, Councillor and the police, the locals freed them. Power outages are common in remote areas of Uttar Pradesh and often people take to streets to press for their demand of regular power supply.
