BJP and Youth Congress workers protest against AAP over petrol, diesel VAT rate hike

New Delhi, July 16 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and the Youth Congress on Thursday staged protests separately against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party over the Value Added Tax (VAT) hike on petrol and diesel. President of BJP’s Delhi unit Satish Upadhyay said that the AAP government is showing its double standards. The Delhi government has hiked the VAT on petrol and diesel prices making it costlier. The decision came after there was a demand to maintain stability in fuel prices along the northern states. Petrol and diesel prices were on Wednesday cut by Rs 2 per litre, excluding local levies, in the second reduction of rates this month by oil companies, but the petrol would actually become costlier in the national capital due to an increase in VAT rate.
