BJP led NDA gets a huge victory in Bihar MLC Elections winning 13/24 Seats

Patna: BJP led National Democratic Alliance today emerged victorious in Bihar Legislative Council Elections, winning 13 out of 24 Seats, the results of which were declared today. The Alliance of JDU -RJD-Congress stood second winning 10 Seats. One Seat was won by an independent Candidate Ritlal Yadav, who is presently lodged in Beur Jail over charges of extortion, murder, kidnapping among others.

Reacting over this Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that party hardly has any role in these polls. The BJP and the LJP claimed that despite the coalition, BJP-led NDA stands a strong chance in the state

The MLC Elections, which were widely seen as the semi-final before Bihar Vidhan Sabha Elections to be held in October, proved to be highly successful to BJP, which is contemplating to form a Government of its own for the first time in Bihar.

Nitish Kumar led Alliance of JDU/RJD/Congress though managed to get 10 Seats. However, keeping in mind the amount of effort spent by the coalition for MLC Polls, the results are not satisfactory. It could be an alarm for Nitish Kumar, who is expecting his 5th term as the Chief Minister of the state.

While, the results cannot be categorically termed as defeat of Congress/RJD/JDU Alliance, it is definitely a big blow to it, keeping in mind its performance in previous by-polls.

However, both the alliances will have to devote extreme effort in order to win the upcoming Assembly Polls, which is poised to witness a cut-throat competition.
