Forensic team reaches Dina Nagar to investigate militant attack that killed at least nine

Dinanagar, July 28 (ANI): A forensic team reached Dinanagar town on Tuesday, near the border with Pakistan, to investigate the site of militant attack which left at least nine dead. Police overcame a group of gunmen dressed in military fatigues on Monday after a 12-hour battle that ended in a small town police station. Police in Punjab killed three unidentified assailants who had pulled up at the police complex in a stolen car, with automatic weapons blazing, at about 5 a.m. Throughout the day, regular bouts of small arms fire echoed across Dinanagar and the surrounding paddy fields, some 15 km from the international border. Meanwhile, residents stepped out of their homes on Tuesday and went about their business as usual. People were seen thronging markets and roads were once again crowded with vehicular traffic. A resident, Lalit Kumar Sharma said Monday’s gun battle was Dinanagar’s first attack at such a scale.
