India-Pakistan ties can’t improve unless Kashmir addressed: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

Srinagar, July 18 (ANI): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the separatist alliance All Parties Hurriyat (Freedom) Conference, said that the talks between India and Pakistan would yield no results if the festering Kashmir dispute was not resolved. He made the comments during an address to his followers after Friday prayers in Srinagar. Hurriyat has expressed its displeasure that Kashmir did not figure in talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif when they met in Russia’s city of Ufa on the sidelines of BRICS summit. Hurriyat maintains that Kashmir is not a bilateral dispute between India and Pakistan and any solution to the dispute can be reached only after talking to representatives of Kashmir. Farooq said India could not resolve the Kashmir dispute through the use of power.
