Indian railways rolls out its 50,000th coach

New Delhi/ Chennai, July 07 (ANI): An Indian Railways factory rolled out its 50,000th coach marking a momentous occasion for the state-run entity in the manufacturing sector. The three-tier air conditioned (AC) coach came out of the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai when Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged it off at his office in New Delhi through video conferencing. Prabhu congratulated the officials for their success. The ICF can produce around 2,000 coaches per year. It has produced over 500 different designs. It turned out a record of 1,704 coaches in 2014-15, said a press release. The production unit was inaugurated by ?first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru on October 2, 1955. Successive governments have struggled to attract the funds necessary to upgrade roads, rail and ports across India, crimping economic growth.
