Karnataka Assembly passes BBMP Trifurcation Bill

Bengaluru, July 21 (ANI): Amid stiff opposition from both BJP and JD(S), Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Tuesday passed Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Trifurcation Bill, with a voice vote after it was defeated in the opposition-dominated Legislative Council. Meanwhile, BJP and JD(S) members entered the well of the House and later staged a walkout calling government’s action “dictatorial”. Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra introduced The Karnataka Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2015, in the Assembly for re-consideration. Karnataka Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa, however, observed that the bill getting defeated at the council was not a good sign.
