Muslims in Kashmir flock markets during Ramadan

Srinagar, July 03 (ANI): Markets in Jammu and Kashmir were thronged by Muslims as they celebrated Ramadan with their family members. Items associated with the festival like attar and skull caps were being imported from various parts of the world. Another shopkeeper, Mudasir Ahmad said that business was good during the holy month of Ramadan. Some other shopkeepers said that religious items like Quran and rose beads also made exceptional sale during the festive season. Ramadan which began on June 19 this year is the ninth month of the Muslim lunar calendar and traditionally a time of religious fervour, during which the believers take to fasting during the daylight hours.
