Pak army rescues injured Japanese climber from Karakoram mountains

Pakistan, July 23 (ANI): Pakistan army helicopters evacuated a Japanese mountaineer who had been injured during an avalanche on Broad Peak in the Karakoram mountain range in northern Pakistan. According to a statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday, helicopters from the military’s aviation wing managed to evacuate Sumiyo Tsuzuki, who was part of an international expedition to the mountain range. The team included Spanish and Nepali climbers. According to reports, Tsuzuki was climbing on Broad Peak (8,051m) along with six other climbers on July 20 when an avalanche below camp 1 (5,300m) caught them. Tsuzuki fractured her ankle and had to be lowered down to base camp by other climbers where she received some medical attention, including an emergency surgery, fellow climbers said.
