‘Pee buddy’ helps women in India to stand & pee, avoid dirty toilets

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): Men peeing along roadsides and on footpaths is a common sight across Indian cities. However, Indian women don’t have it so easy as there are very few public washrooms for them and these too are often very dirty, so much so that women avoid using them unless the pressure on the bladder gets unbearable. According to the figures provided by Delhi’s civic agencies to a court on the state of hygiene and sanitation facilities in the capital city- there are 3,712 public toilets for men and only 269 for women in 10 out of 12 zones in the national capital. Sensing the problem – a New Delhi based startup called Pee Buddy is now offering a solution to all those women who are afraid of getting into the stinky, dirty public toilets and worried about contacting infections. Made from waterproof cardboard, Pee Buddy is a single use funnel which allows women to pee without having to squat on a dirty toilet seat and risk catching any infections. All that a user has to do is just hold Pee Buddy between her legs. Pee Buddy was started by a Delhi based entrepreneur, Deep Bajaj, in early 2014.
