Politicos wish nation on Eid-ul-Fitr

Kolkata/ Patna/ Guwahati/ Bhopal, July 18 (ANI): Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan, is being celebrated across the country on Saturday. Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset and it culminates in Eid celebrations. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi offered prayers on the occasion of Eid in Guwahati. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee greeted people on the occasion. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also greeted people and said that the festival epitomises brotherhood in society. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also wished people and prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for all. Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi too extended greetings and good wishes on the occasion of Eid-ul-fitr.
