Angry mob ransacks Secunderabad’s police station over youth’s death in police custody

Hyderabad, Aug 04 (ANI): Tension gripped Secunderabad’s police station when a youth named Banappa died in police custody. Angry over death, the furious mob of Gandhi Nagar locality where Banappa was living attacked the police station, torched few two wheelers and ransacked the police station. A large number of police personnel including RAF rushed in to the area to control the situation. In the violent clash, five police personnel suffered minor injuries. According to police, the youth was taken into custody on a complaint filed by a duty home guard. However, he was released on bail on Monday. However, the family of the youth alleged that he was beaten brutally in police custody and that he fell sick and later died on the way to hospital on Monday noon. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said that an investigation has been ordered into the matter.
