Government starts flood relief distribution in affected areas of West Bengal and Odisha

Midnapore/ Bhadrak, Aug 04 (ANI): The administration in West Bengal distributed relief material to flood victims where at least 50 people have lost their lives. West Bengal and neighbouring Odisha state are the worst affected as cyclonic storm Komen struck the states, bringing along with it heavy rains. Flash floods caused by incessant rainfall have submerged houses and shops, forcing people to move to makeshift shelters. In Midnapore district, as the relief material reached through boats, many people gathered for the food packets. More than 40 relief centers have been opened across the state to provide medicines and food material in the affected areas. A minister of village council in Midnapore, Subrata Mukherjee, said the flood situation worsens in the state after water is released without warning.
