Joint ministerial meeting to clean River Yamuna held in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): A joint meeting comprising central ministers and Delhi Chief Minister was held in national capital to step up cleaning and rejuvenation of Yamuna River. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari met and tabled several proposals for cleaning the historic river and reviving its past glory. Naidu said the meeting focused on providing clean water to the people of Delhi and exploring possibilities of inland transport across the river, among others. The ministers present in the meeting also formed a small committee to study various aspects of cleaning the river. The six-member committee under the chairmanship of secretary of water resource ministry has been given asked to submit a report by September 30. Yamuna is the largest tributary river of the India’s sacred Ganges River.
