Kaziranga forest guards kill poachers in Assam

Jorhat, August 27 (ANI): Forest guards killed three poachers during an encounter in Bagori forest range of Kaziranga National Park in Assam on Thursday. The incident took place when forest officials got information about the movement of poachers who were trying to enter the national park by crossing the National Highway-37. The officials alerted the forest guards who intercepted the poachers in Burapahar forest range. The guards noticed a group of poachers carrying arms entering the national park and confronted them. A gun battle ensued in which three poachers were killed. After the encounter, a joint search operation was conducted by Assam Police and forest guards at the site of the encounter. They recovered the three dead bodies of poachers along with arms and ammunition. The forest official and police had also recovered two modified 303 rifle along with some empty cartridges from the spot.
