Pakistan cross-firing stalls life in Kashmir

Rajouri, Aug 20 (ANI): Schools in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir remained closed due to continued firing by neighbouring Pakistan. Life has been paralysed as supply of food and other commodities from surrounding areas was disrupted due to rampant fear of shelling from across the border. Local residents have been forced to go underground for fear of their lives. No school buses ever plied in this region, forcing students to always travel to school on foot. This further worsened the situation, since children desisted from attending school, given the security situation. A student recounted the ordeal faced by school-going children in Balakote. Circumstances worsened due to dwindling supplies of food, and residents gripped with fear, remained hidden in their homes.
