People celebrate as India- Bangladesh exchanged enclaves

Cooch Behar, August 01 (ANI): Villagers in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal rejoiced the historic exchange of enclaves between India and Bangladesh and lit torches and candles as part of celebration. Bangladesh and India on Friday midnight swapped adversely-held enclaves for almost 60-years, thus marking the implementation of historic landmark land boundary agreement (LBA) between the two countries. The two nations swapped 162 enclaves of land located in one country but officially belonging to the other, over four decades after the neighbours first tried to untangle complex territorial rights set down in 1713. Chief Coordinator of India-Bangladesh Enclave Exchange Coordination Committee, Diptiman Sengupta said that this was his father’s dream.
