Reactions come in as SC deputy registrar quits over verdict on Yakub Memon’s hanging

New Delhi/ Bengaluru, Aug 02 (ANI): Reactions come in on Sunday after deputy registrar of the Supreme Court, Professor Anup Surendranath resigned to protest against the execution of Yakub Memon for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, reflecting the simmering discontent within the institution. Surendranath described the verdicts on Memon as “instances of judicial abdication that must count amongst the darkest hours for the Supreme Court”. Reacting on the same, Justice (Retired) Fakhruddin lauded the court’s decision and said that there was no element of biasness in the case. Law Minister Sadananda Gowda said that the ministry should refrain from commenting on issues of the SC. Congress and JD (U) also reacted on the ongoing debate in the case.
