Three deadly explosions in Kabul cause heavy casualties

Afghanistan, August 08 (ANI): Three deadly explosions happened in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, injuring around 270 people and killing over 40 people. The Taliban has claimed only one attack – the suicide bombing of the police academy. President Ashraf Ghani has suggested that the group is seeking to divert attention away from its leadership struggles. The first huge explosion struck a military base in Kabul at over 1:00 AM, damaging all shops on both side of the nearby road in Shah Shahid with nearly all windowpanes shattered. The force of the explosion was unprecedented. The second attack in the shape of suicide bombing targeted the students of Police Academy leaving over two dozens of people dead or injured, according to a police officer. Local police has blocked the nearby road to prevent people from getting close, while a number of police, ambulances and fire engines were on standby at the scene. The third explosion which occurred in Qasaba in the northern part of Afghan capital Kabul, targeted a military base near Kabul Airport.
