YSR Congress holds state wide shutdown in AP demanding special status

Vijayawada, Aug 29 (ANI): The YSR Congress Party on Saturday observed state-wide shut down demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh, ahead of the Legislative Assembly session. Vijayawada saw its shops closed and normal life at a standstill observing the bandh. Vehicles also remained off the roads. The party also staged a protest on the streets. The protesters were later detained by the police, stuffed them into the police van to avoid any untoward situation. Earlier this week, YSR President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called for the bandh demanding the promise of special status to the state. Reddy had accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of not keeping his promise of special status for the state. Reddy appealed to the people to make Saturday’s shutdown call successful.
