New Delhi, Sep 05 (ANI): Assam Congress MLAs met BJP President Amit Shah and expressed their desire top join Bhartiya Janata Dal on Saturday. Congress unit of Assam MLA Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he along with other MLAs expressed their desire to join BJP and that they will be formally resigning from Congress soon. BJP is likely to get a boost in Assam if Sarma joins the party raising its chances of winning the Assembly elections next year. Sarma had held important portfolios like health and education in the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government in Assam and is perhaps the only member of the cabinet who earned the well-deserved reputation of being a man of action and a go-getter.
