PM Modi visits Mahabodhi temple, chants prayers with priests

Bodh Gaya, Sep 05 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited holy city of Bodh Gaya to attend the concluding ceremony of the three-day international Buddhist conclave that began in Delhi. On arrival, the prime minister visited the revered Mahabodhi temple and took part in prayers with other priests and devotees at the temple. He sat in silence for a few minutes amid chanting by priests. PM Modi also recited the verses of ‘Buddham Sharanam Gachhami Dharmam Sharanam Gacchami’ at the temple. He was also offered mementoes by the Buddha devotees. Later, he also toured the temple premises. Later, PM Modi also inaugurated the exhibition ‘Chetiya Carika: The Pilgrimage and Quest for Truth’ in the holy city. Modi was earlier received by the Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind and Minister Shyam Razak at Gaya’s airport.
