Climate protesters, riot police clash in Paris

Paris, Nov 30 (ANI): French riot police continued to clash with climate protesters in Paris, ahead of the international climate conference set to begin on Monday. Groups of protesters in front of Place de la Republique threw objects at police, inciting them to spray tear gas and charge towards them. Other demonstrators tried to quell the situation by telling violent protesters to stop throwing objects, to no avail. The demonstrators were gathered after a large march was cancelled due to the state of emergency put in place by French authorities after a series of attacks in the French capital on November 13 that killed 130 people. French President Francois Hollande will host 147 heads of state and government for the World Climate Change Conference (COP21), which aims to secure a binding commitment from participating countries to reduce global emissions and keep temperature rises to below two degrees Celsius.
