Fishermen’s organization condemns detention of fishermen by Lankan Navy

Rameswaram, Nov 29 (ANI): Sri Lanka has detained nine fishermen for allegedly violating the International Maritime Boundary Line and fishing in its waters, claimed Indian fishermen on Sunday (November 29). This is the second incident in a week with Sri Lankan authorities detaining 20 Indian fishermen on Thursday (November 26). Two boats of Indian fishermen were also seized by the Lankan authorities. The detention was made near the Palk Strait which is a strait between the southern Tamil Nadu state of India and the Northern Province of the island nation of Sri Lanka. Secretary of fishermen association, NJ Bose, condemned the incident. Bose expressed disappointment over Indian government’s inaction on the issue.
