Nepal cable TV operators ‘pressurized’ to switch off Indian news channels

Kathmandu, Nov 30 (ANI): Nepal Cable TV operators were forced to switch off Indian news channels by protesters against the unofficial ‘blockade of goods’ into the country. The president of Federation of Nepal Cable TV operators, Sudhir Parajuli said that a letter was received from Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) that all the Hindi or Indian channels should be switched off after which a meeting was held and a few news channels were banned. Amid agitation by the Joint Madhesi Front in the Himalayan nation, scores of goods laden trucks are stranded on the India-Nepal border. Madhesis have been protesting over ‘discriminatory’ seven-province model of new Constitution.
