Political reactions to Mahaesh Sharma’s ‘no evidence of Hindu temple at Taj’ remark

New Delhi,Dec 01(ANI): Politicians are reacting to Union Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma’s statement that there is no evidence of a Hindu temple having existed at the place where the Taj Mahal is located today in Agra. JD(U) leader Ali Anwar said that the Taj Mahal was a world heritage site and rubbished claims of a Hindu temple ever being there. Congress leader P L Punia charged the BJP of creating an unnecessary hue and cry without any evidence. JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that the Taj Mahal neither belongs to Hindus nor to Muslims, and should only be seen as an impotant heritage of India. NCP leader Majeed Memon said it was a historical fact that the Taj Mahal was built during the Mughal period and discarded any notion of the presence of a Hindu temple.
