ABVP protests in JNU over event on Afzal Guru

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members staged a protest outside the office of Jawaharlal Nehru University ( JNU) Vice Chancellor on Wednesday to vent their ire over a programme describing the execution of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru as ‘judicial killing’. The varsity witnessed violent clashes between two students groups last night over this programme, following which the police personnel were deployed to maintain the law and order situation on the campus. The incident was followed by the cultural evening organised at the Sabarmati Dhaba by ten students, who were earlier members of the Democratic Students’ Union (DSU). The ABVP has also demanded that the ten students behind the event must be rusticated with immediate effect. One of the protestors said they are protesting against the “anti-national” activity on the campus and strict actions should be taken.
