Manipur’s Kourouhanba Spices Industry proves boon for jobless

Manipur, Feb 09 (ANI): Fifty five-year-old Potshangbam Kulachandra, who hails from Haobam Marak, is a qualified B.Tech in Food Technology and M. Tech in Bio Technology. Potshangbam Kulachandra served in Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation but he resigned from his job and started his own venture. In 2015, he set up ‘Korouhanba Spices Industries’ at Keithelmanbi village and produces different food spices items. All the raw materials used for the spices are from forest products which are free from in-organic chemicals. The unit is a source of employment for local youth, as it employs around 25 local youth. The industry produces several spices items like Masala paste, Garam Masala, Vegetable Masala, Chilli powder, Ginger powder, Jeera Powder, Turmeric powder, Coriander powder, Mustard powder and coarse mix spices. The products are now in high demand both in the state and outside. Workers are happy to get better job opportunities. Achievements of young entrepreneurs like Potshangbam Kulachandra will inspire many educated unemployed youth in the region to explore new innovative ideas and become self-reliant.
