Reopening of Indo-Nepal border brings relief to Himalayan people

Nepal, Feb 09 (ANI): The Madeshis called off their five-month long agitation in the Southern Terai region of Nepal lifting border blockade. The re-opening of Indo-Nepal border brought relief to the Himalayan nation as the country was suffering severe shortages of fuel, medicines and other essential commodities. Madeshis, who have been protesting for equal rights in the newly adopted constitution which was promulgated in September last year, felt their interests had been neglected. Normal life has been paralyzed in Nepal due to political unrest. The lifting of border blockade made people happy as they would be able to access essential commodities now. The announcement to end the border blockade comes ahead of proposed visit of Prime Minister K P Oli’s trip to India on February 19
