Gorakhpur, Apr 30 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Police rescued five children from the clutches of human traffickers. Acting on a tip-off provided by a local non-governmental organisation, the police arrested one person in connection with the case. The children – all residents of Fazilnagar village in west Champaran district – were being brought to Gorakhpur city when the police cracked down on the trafficker. The accused, Dhanesh, claimed that he was a middleman and was not aware of any trafficking racket. Thousands of children, mostly from poor rural areas, are taken to cities every year by trafficking gangs, who sell them into bonded labour or hire them out to unscrupulous employers, promising to send their parents their wages.
