Watch country’s first woman tunnel engineer in action

Bengaluru, Apr 30 (ANI): “Tunnelling is my life, experience utmost joy in it,” says country’s first woman tunnel engineer Annie Sinha Roy. She is currently working on Namma Bangalore, country’s first underground metro line in southern India, which will run from Cubbon Road to Vidhana Soudha. Roy, who is working with with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC), believes that the tunnelling work has nothing to do with gender but it deals with knowing one’s work. Annie, who lost her father, took her first job with Delhi Metro in 2007 to bail out her family from financial crisis. She alone steered the Godavari tunnel boring machine that was recently completed. She added that she wanted women to move forward in this field.
