India fumes over petrol, diesel price hike

New Delhi/Mumbai, May 01 (ANI): Expressing disappointment as prices of petrol and diesel were hiked across the country from Sunday, residents of the national capital and Mumbai queued up at fuel stations to get their vehicles refilled on Saturday night, hours before new prices came into effect. While petrol has become costlier by rupees 1.06 a litre, diesel prices were hiked by rupees 2.94 per litre. After the revision, petrol will cost rupees 62.19 per litre in Delhi whereas diesel will be priced at rupees 50.95 per litre. Angry residents blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for the price hike. In Mumbai, petrol will cost rupees 66.71 per litre whereas diesel will be priced at rupees 56.61 per litre. Petrol and diesel prices are deregulated and are linked with market rates of crude oils.
