Meet Abuthagir, the auto rickshaw driver who owns antique radio museum

Coimbatore, May 28 (ANI): An auto rickshaw driver in Coimtobatore today possesses his own antique radio museum for which he has been saving up since childhood. Abuthagir in Coimbatore dreamt of becoming an engineer, but poverty forced him to give up his education. He then started saving whatever money he got to buy his own radio, with which he was fascinated. After he became an auto rickshaw driver, he started saving his earnings to spend on more collectibles. Today Abuthagir owns more than 200 radios, mostly from the British period, and some from different parts of the world, which he houses in a rented house in the city. Abuthagir, who wants to educate the younger generation about the antique instruments, has till date refused many lucrative offers from people wanting to buy his radios. The rickshaw driver wants the museum to be some day converted into a permanent one, so that it can be used for the awareness of today’s youths who don’t have access to the radios of the yesteryears.
