Rain brings relief in northern India; southern states still reel under heat wave

New Delhi/Varanasi/ Visakhapatnam, May 26 (ANI): While rains lashed northern parts of India, intense heat wave conditions continued to make life miserable in the east and southern parts of the country. Fresh rains brought respite to the people in Varanasi city. Residents of the national capital also rejoiced as short spell of rain, giving some relief from scorching summers. Meanwhile in Visakhapatnam, people venturing out in the sun were seen taking measures like covering their heads and faces with cloth to protect themselves from the scorching heat. The onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala signals the arrival of monsoon over the Indian subcontinent and represents the beginning of the rainy season.
