Tripura Congress exodus continues, tribal parties in talks to join BJP

Tripura, June 30 (ANI): Breaking away of the Congress party in Tripura continues as after six MLAs and senior party leaders, Congress former Mahila (women) wing president advocate Kalyani Ray joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. She declared this during a press conference at the party headquarter in Agartala in presence of BJP Tripura unit in-charge Sunil Deodhar and state president Biplab Deb. After the joining programme, Sunil Deodhar informed that two prominent tribal parties of the state INPT and IPFT are along in discussion with the BJP over their alliance. He informed that on coming 13th July, representatives of both the parties would meet in Guwahati to finalise the charter of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) to prepare ground for a “Congress-free Northeast”. Deodhar, however, assured that on no cost his party will support the demand for a separate tribal state (Twipra Land) but favoured for direct funding in the Autonomous District Council in Tripura for the development of the tribal people and to stop siphoning of central fund by the ruling CPIM cadres.
