Vadodara village cultivating special Kashmiri thornless rose on demand

Vadodara, June 29 (ANI): 50km away from Gujarat’s Vadodara district, Daroli is a village where farmers have taken up Kashmiri rose cultivation, which is on high demand. Along with wheat and rice, this belt is well-known for cultivation of various varieties of flowers. The state government is also promoting the idea by motivating farmers and distributing rose saplings at subsidised rates. One such farmer is Mukesh. The state government gave Mukesh a new variety of rose to cultivate on his land, which is bigger than normal Indian Kashmiri rose and is more durable. This new rose variety is also devoid of thorns. Mukesh’s daily profit crosses Rs. 1,500. According to a Horticulture officer in Vadodara, in spite of the geographical conditions being unfavorable for production of roses in Gujarat, the place is producing a decent amount of roses. Kashmiri rose cultivation also comes as a ‘plan B’ for the farmers if the primary crops fail due to adverse conditions.
