Rivers cross danger mark in J & K, Assam, ring alarm bells

Jammu and Kashmir/ Assam, July 28 (ANI): Heavy rains over the lat couple of days has disrupted normal life and increased water levels in rivers and other water bodies. Residents of Thard village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district have been wading back and forth through a stream everyday. Farzad Ali, a resident, said that a demand for a bridge to be constructed has been made, but to no avail. In Assam, the Brahmaputra River has crossed the danger level due to torrential rains. The Brahmaputra River and its tributaries are in spate and have breached their banks at several places. Police and rescue workers said at least 12 people had drowned across Assam in recent days.
