Malayalees stranded in Saudi Arabia return to Kerala

Kochi, Aug 24 (ANI): Three Malayalees namely Shijo Mathew of Kannur, Mohammad of Malappuram and Shabeer of Kozhikode returned to Kerala from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The gulf nation, which is undergoing severe economic crisis, has laid off tens of thousands of South Asians and other foreign workers with most of the companies refusing to pay salaries or grant them permission to leave the country. The Malayalees who have returned to their home country allege that they had informed the Non-Resident Keralites’ Affairs Department (NORKA) for assistance but no help was extended to them.
