Woman’s womb won’t be available on rent: Sushma Swaraj after Cabinet passes Surrogacy Bill

New Delhi, Aug 24 (ANI): Union Ministrer of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj said the Union cabinet on Wednesday cleared the surrogacy bill aimed to safeguard the rights of surrogate mothers and make parentage of such children legal. Swaraj said surrogacy was introduced in India to help childless couples, but with time, the country has emerged as a surrogacy hub and several incidents of unethical practices have been reported. The minister also said that altruistic surrogacy will be allowed but with several conditions.
